Uplink resource allocation in SC-FDMA wireless networks: A survey and taxonomy

چکیده
SC-FDMA has been selected by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution (LTE) and LTE Advanced (LTE-A), as the primary multiple access scheme for the uplink of the 4 G wireless communication systems. This article surveys the different stateof-the-art resource allocation algorithms developed to allocate system’s subcarriers and users’ transmission powers in the uplink of SC-FDMA wireless networks. An objectivedriven classification approach is followed where the various resource allocation algorithms are categorized into four major classes based on the ultimate goal/objective of the resource allocation process, as follows: (i) throughput optimization, (ii) fairness, (iii) satisfaction of users’ QoS requirements, and (iv) joint power and subcarriers allocation. The article summarizes the activities and recent advances on this work-in-progress area, highlights the key features, advantages and disadvantages of each algorithm, and provides a detailed qualitative comparative evaluation of their attributes and characteristics according to several distinct features. Furthermore, it provides some indicative numerical results that better present and quantify the objective and achieved performance of the various algorithms. Finally the problem of resource allocation is discussed, when multicell environment is considered, where issues such as intercell interference mitigation and backhaul rate constraints pose additional challenges. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. Decentralized Routing and Power Allocation in FDMA Wireless Networks based on H∞ Fuzzy Control Strategy
Simultaneous routing and resource allocation has been considered in wireless networks for its performance improvement. In this paper we propose a cross-layer optimization framework for worst-case queue length minimization in some type of FDMA based wireless networks, in which the the data routing and the power allocation problem are jointly optimized with Fuzzy distributed H∞ control strategy ....
متن کاملQoS-Constrained Resource Allocation Scheduling for Uplink SC-FDMA
Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the most promising technology for 4G mobile communication networks. The goal of LTE is to provide high data transmission rate, scalable bandwidth, low latency, and high-mobility. LTE employs Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) for downlink and uplink data transmission, respectively. As to ...
متن کاملSC-FDMA-based resource allocation and power control scheme for D2D communication using LTE-A uplink resource
Device-to-device (D2D) communication-enabled cellular networks allow cellular devices to directly communicate with each other without any evolved NodeB (eNB). D2D communication aims to improve the spectral efficiency and increases the overall system capacity. For future mobile networks, intelligent radio resource allocation and power control schemes are required to accommodate the increasing nu...
متن کاملBackhaul-Aware Decoupled Uplink and Downlink User Association, Subcarrier Allocation, and Power Control in FiWi HetNets
Decoupling the uplink and downlink user association improves the throughput of heterogeneous networks (HetNets) and balances the traffic load of macro- and small- base stations. Recently, fiber-wireless HetNets (FiWi-HetNets) have been considered as viable solutions for access networks. To improve the accuracy of user association and resource allocation algorithms in FiWi-HetNets, the capacity ...
متن کاملResource Allocation and Adaptive Modulation in Uplink SC-FDMA Systems
In this paper, we study resource allocation and adaptive modulation in SC-FDMA which is adopted as the multiple access scheme for the uplink in the 3GPP-LTE standard. A sum-utility maximization (SUmax), and a joint adaptive modulation and sum-cost minimization (JAMSCmin) problems are considered. Unlike OFDMA, in addition to the restriction of allocating a sub-channel to one user at most, the mu...
